With the development of society and medicine, nurses face more ethical dilemmas in clinical practice. In order to deal with complex ethical decisions, the teaching team of West China School of Nursing has prepared a MOOC course on English platform for "Nursing Ethics". This course aims to provide nursing students with the correct ethic value, and to establish the humanitarian of "people-oriented, caring and care". It also helps students to recognize and identify ethical problems in nursing practice, as well as improve the abilities of rational thinking, correct evaluation, decision-making, ethical problems-solving and serving the best benefit of patients.
Course Introduction
As an interdisciplinary subject of nursing and ethics, “Nursing Ethics” takes nursing ethics as the research object, studying its generation, development, and changing laws and how to use nursing ethical principles and norms to adjust nursing interpersonal relationships and solve ethical or moral issues in nursing practice.
"Nursing Ethics" MOOC is presented by the nursing and ethics teaching teams. Students are guided to think about nursing issues from the perspective of nursing ethics and apply nursing ethical theories, principles and norms to nursing practice and research via different methods. These methods are online courses, micro-videos, online "PBL" interactions, and flipped classroom learning. As a result, students’ ability of ethical decision-making can be improved, and their correct view of right and wrong and humanistic nursing values will be established.
