On October 15, the higher education evaluation agency Ranking officially released "The 2026 Best Chinese Subjects Ranking". Nursing Discipline of Sichuan University ranked first in this ranking, making it seven consecutive years at the top since 2020 and maintaining its position as Chinese top discipline.

The indicator system of Ranking’s Best Chinese Subjects Ranking includes five indicator categories: talent cultivation, platform and project, achievement and award, academic paper, and high-caliber talent. It uses more than 100 indicator variables for discipline development, emphasizing the use of objective data to reflect the possession and contribution to scarce resources and landmark achievements in the discipline. "The 2026 Best Chinese Subjects Ranking" covers 98 first-level disciplines and 5 professional degree categories, with 5,344 disciplines from 517 universities included.
