2025 International Nurses’ Day Commemorative Activity & “Gather wisdom for Nursing Discipline Build World Class Together” Academic Forum was successfully held at the Houde Building in Huaxi Campus of Sichuan University. We specially invited globally leading nursing discipline leaders, deans and scholar representatives to attend the forum to Introduce experiences in talent cultivation, scientific research and clinical practice, and jointly explore the construction and development of nursing discipline, including:Professor Shang Shaomei, Chair of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Nursing Programs in Higher Education Institution of the Ministry of Education and Dean of School of Nursing，Peking University; Professor Lau Siew Tiang, Deputy Head of Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies,Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore;Professor Doris Yu, Research Chair of the School of Nursing，The University of Hong Kong; Professor Thomas Lam,Deputy Director of Health Research Centre，The Nethersole School of Nursing, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. More than 500 representatives of nursing teachers and students attended the forum.Professor Li Ka, Dean of School of Nursing,West China School of Medicine (West China Hospital),Sichuan University, delivered an address at the forum.
Professor Shang Shaomei, Dean of School of Nursing，Peking University,gave a speech titled "Nursing Education and Nursing Discipline Construction", provided in-depth discussions on nursing discipline construction and innovative talent cultivation strategies, interdisciplinary research in nursing using elderly care as an example, evidence transformation and nursing practice, providing inspiration for the construction of world-class nursing disciplines.
Professor Lau Siew Tiang, Deputy Head of Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies,Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, delivered a speech titled "Developing nurses for a sustainable future through Interdisciplinary Education". Professor Lau introduced the exploration of interdisciplinary nursing education at the National University of Singapore, emphasized the key factors in interdisciplinary education, and analyzed the challenges and solutions of interdisciplinary education.
Professor Doris Yu, Research Chair of the School of Nursing，The University of Hong Kong, gave a speech titled "A global initiative to promote healthy aging in Hong Kong: from WHO-ICOPE diagnostics to impact evaluation", exploring the path of healthy aging from the perspectives of comprehensive care evaluation for the elderly, personalized care plans, and continuous behavioral changes to achieve functional optimization.
Professor Thomas Lin, Deputy Director of Health Research Centre，The Nethersole School of Nursing, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, delivered a speech titled "Effectiveness of Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CADx) for Polyp Characterization during Colonoscopy: A Multi-centre randomized controlled Trial".Professor Lin designed a large-scale, multi center randomized controlled trial to evaluate AI-driven CADx systems and diagnostic performance applicable to different of endoscopic systems.
Professor Li Ka, Dean of School of Nursing, West China School of Medicine(West China Hospital) ,Sichuan University, delivered a speech titled "Cultivation of Top-tier Innovative Talents with Chinese Characteristics in Nursing to Serve Emerging Productivity in the New Era". Professor Li elaborated on the connotation of nursing with Chinese characteristics in the new era, the connotation and cultivation of innovative talents in nursing, and proposed a blueprint for cultivating top-tier innovative nursing talents with Chinese characteristics in the new era to drive the development of emerging productivity.
