From September 19 to 21, the 4th West China International Nursing Conference was held in the beautiful Chengdu, Sichuan, with the theme of “Inheriting & Innovation, Interdisciplinary Cooperation, Leadership & Development”.
本届大会由四川大学华西护理学院、华西医院、华西第二医院、华西口腔医院、华西第四医院以及西部医药技术转移中心联合主办。会议以《汇聚贤能，共促发展》的震撼短片拉开帷幕。
The conference was co-organized by West China School of Nursing, West China Second University Hospital, West China Hospital of Stomatology, West China Fourth Hospital of Sichuan University, and West China Medicine and Technology Transfer Center. The conference began with an impressive short filmentitled "Gathering Talents and Promoting Development Together".

Academician LI Yanrong, the President of Sichuan University, extended a warm welcome to the experts and scholars attending the conference. He said, "Healthy China" strategy provides a golden opportunity for the development of nursing science. As one of the headstreams of Chinese higher nursing education and a bright name card of West China medical science, West China School of Nursing of Sichuan University has constructed a mutual support system of nursing education, clinical care and scientific research. Great progress has been made in personnel training, discipline construction, scientific and technological innovation, international exchange, and clinical service capabilities, providing strong support for the construction of best medical science. President Li hoped, through this conference, we would bring together the wisdom of all parties to jointly promote the development of nursing career and nursing disciplines.

Chairman of the Chinese Nursing Association, WU Xinjuan, affirmed the important position of West China nursing team in the development of nursing disciplines in China and stressed that West China nursing education has trained a large number of outstanding talents for China's nursing career and contributed to its development of nursing disciplines. This conference was a hard work of West China nursing team to integrate resources and comprehensively deepen medical reform. It has been expected that the majority of nursing people should actively explore and continue to move forward in the face of the current tasks and new requirements of Healthy China strategy.

LI Suxuan, Vice Director of the Science and Technology Department of Sichuan Province, hoped that the West China nursing team could make full use of the scientific and technological exchange opportunities provided by the conference, and continue to establish and improve the innovative mechanism of integration of production, education and research in the nursing discipline in the future work, and provide new kinetic energy for the development of nursing disciplines in China and the world. In the end of the opening ceremony, LI Weimin, Dean of West China School of Medicine/West China Hospital/West China School of Nursing, Sichuan University, summarized that several generations of West China nursing people have achieved fruitful innovation and development in faculty construction, personnel training, clinical services, scientific research, and international exchanges. It has been hoped that the West China nursing team can adhere to the six first-class construction of nursing discipline and make unremitting efforts to create a disciplinary brand with "World Class, Chinese characteristics, Sichuan University style, and West China brand". Dean Li emphasized that all nursing people should firmly establish the overall situation awareness, a larger pattern, a broader vision to develop nursing disciplines, improve the level of nursing care, and strive to achieve the great goal of all human health.

The conference brought together 163 well-known nursing experts from 23 nursing colleges in the United States, Britain, Japan, Australia, Canada, Thailand, South Korea, etc., and received 857 submissions from home and abroad. The total number of participants reached more than 1,000.
