The first National Teaching Innovation Competition for College Teachers was successfully held at Fudan University in Shanghai on July 30, 2021. This contest was organized by China Higher Education Association, undertaken by 8 universities or institu
tions such as Fudan University, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, University of Electronic Science and Technology, with guidance by the Department of higher education, Ministry of Education. With the theme of "Promoting teaching Innovation to Create first-class courses", the competition aims to implement the principle of encouraging teachers’ teaching capability,promoting smart education and strengthening the learning community. There were 50,386 teachers from 1,071 universities and 31 regions across the country participating in the within-school competition. 12,625 teachers were selected to participate in the provincial competition, and about 300 teachers along with 199 courses were promoted to the national competition. It shows the advanced teaching ideas of contemporary university teachers and the achievements of teaching reform and innovation. The competition is divided into two race tracks, as universities affiliated to the Ministry of Education and provincial universities. He Jingjing won the second prize of national universities affiliated to the Ministry as the first prize winner of the Sichuan Provincial Competition on behalf of Sichuan Province.
The competition was arranged by the Academic Affairs Office of Sichuan University with great support from the leaders and experts of Sichuan University, West China Medical Center, West China School of Nursing and the West China Hospital during the preparation period. From January to July in 2021, the end of the final competition, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing Teaching Team has won the First Prize of the Inquiry-Small Class Teaching Competition of Sichuan University, and the winner of the Provincial Teacher Teaching Innovation Competition, Innovation Teaching Activities Competition, Teaching Academic Innovation Competition, and Teaching Design Innovation Competition. The team also won the second prize of national College Teachers teaching Innovation Competition.
As an important part of the maternal and child health service guarantee project, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing Teaching and Research Department of West China School of Nursing, Sichuan University has been committed to promote the midwife higher education, reform teacher training and teaching innovation. Receiving the notice of the competition, the teaching and research section responded positively. Director Ren Jianhua led the team, and three young midwifery teachers, He Jingjing, Qian Liming and Yu Xia, participated in the competition. The teams focus on teaching innovation and reshape teaching concept. This award fully demonstrates the academic foundation and teaching style of our teachers, and reflects our high attention and support to the teaching ability cultivation and teaching development of young teachers.
