On June 26, a delegation led by Dean Ge Li from the School of Nursing at Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (FJTCM) visited the West China School of Nursing for an academic exchange. Dean Li Ka from the West China School of Nursing, Sichuan University, attended the symposium alongside representatives from the Student Affairs Department and core faculty members.
At the symposium, Dean Li Ka extended a warm welcome to the FJTCM delegation and provided a comprehensive overview of the school's disciplinary development, faculty composition, and talent cultivation frameworks. Luo Lin, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Department, followed with a detailed presentation on the school's approaches to student management and mental health support services. In turn, Dean Ge Li outlined the historical evolution of the FJTCM School of Nursing, highlighting its distinctive strengths in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing, research priorities, talent development, and international education initiatives.
The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on several priority areas, including high-quality discipline construction, development of degree-granting programs, and TCM nursing education. The dialogue also covered student management mechanisms, ideological-political education through curriculum instruction, career and academic counseling, and innovative educational models. This exchange allowed both institutions to share advanced practices, identify areas for improvement, and explore strategies to enhance educational quality and efficiency.
Drawing on the unique academic strengths of both institutions, the symposium established a robust platform for inter-university collaboration. Both parties agreed to leverage this exchange to deepen resource sharing and mutual support. Moving forward, they will expand cooperation in specialized TCM nursing development and the cultivation of high-level professionals, while actively exploring new pathways for interdisciplinary collaborative research. Through these joint efforts, the two universities aim to advance the high-quality development of nursing disciplines with Chinese characteristics, preserve and promote TCM nursing culture, and nurture top-tier nursing talents to meet the needs of the "Healthy China" initiative in the new era.
