On the afternoon of May 12, the 109th International Nurses' Day, Sichuan University honored outstanding nursing teams and individuals in 2019-2020 in front of the 8th teaching building of West China campus and commemorate the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birthday. CHEN Xue-hua, deputy director of Science and Technology Department of SichuanProvince, LI Yan-rong, president of Sichuan University, ZHANG Lin, vice president of Sichuan University, LI Wei-ming, dean of the West China School of Medicine/West China Hospital/West China School of Nursing, ZHANG Wei, secretary of the party committee of West China School of Medicine/West China hospital，other leaders and representatives from West China Hospital, West China Second hospital, West China Stomatological Hospital, West ChinaFourthhospital, and School Hospital participated in the event.
Professor LI Yanrong congratulated the winning teams and individuals, and extended greetings to all nursing teachers and students. As the president, professor Li encouraged nurses to inherit Florence Nightingale’s spirit of caring and dedication, and promote nursing discipline with modern science and technology. Collaborated with engineering and informatics, Sichuan University has launched "one platform + three centers" project to speed up the development of nursing discipline, which can better meet the needs of people.
Professor LI Wei-ming solemnly promised, on behalf of all nursing staff, to “seek happiness for Chinese people and rejuvenation for the country” as always make West China nursing science world-class.
Lay flowers to the excellent representatives for fight against COVID-19
Nursing teams and individuals that made great contribution in the fight against COVID-19, and teachers with symbolic achievements of nursing science were commended in the ceremony.
Alumni Association of West China School of Nursing was inaugurated at the ceremony.
The key laboratory of nursing science in Sichuan provincewas inaugurated at the ceremony. This laboratory is the first provincial key laboratory approved for nursing science in western China.
In the end, nearly 200 nursing workers from west China renewed Nightingale Oath leaded by Professor Cheng Yijuan, the winner of the 44th Nightingale Medal.
As an important discipline in the university, West China nursing has maintained a good development momentum and status. In 2017, nursing discipline was admitted into category A in the fourth national discipline assessment. In 2019, the major of nursing becomes the Double first-class construction major in China.
