Technology and Innovation Summit Forum Successfully Convened At the 6th West China International Nursing Conference

On the morning of September 27, the 6th West China International Nursing Conference: Technology and Innovation Summit Forum was successfully convened. This forum brought together scientists,international scholars and young talents from over 10 countries and Hong Kong and Macao of China, to discuss the future of global health technology! Mr. Lu Songming, Secretary of the Party Leading Group and Director-General of the Department of Science and Technology of Sichuan Province, and Vice President Zhao Changsheng of Sichuan University,attended the forum and delivered addresses.President Wu Xinjuan of the Chinese Nursing Association delivered a speech by video. Dean Fengming Luo of West China School of Medicine, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, attended the conference.

Mr. Lu Songming, Secretary of the Party Leading Group and Director-General of the Department of Science and Technology of Sichuan Province,  highlighted in his address that nursing serves as the guardian of life, representing the perfect integration of medical science and humanistic compassion. It plays a vital role in providing health services across the entire life cycle. He emphasized that the Department of Science and Technology of Sichuan Province will continue to prioritize nursing as a key area of support. Looking ahead, he outlined three key directions for the discipline's development: first, anchoring its distinctive positioning, strengthening the foundation for innovation, and enhancing the “industry–university–research–application” integration mechanism to attract top global talent; second, deepening interdisciplinary integration to stimulate breakthrough momentum, using the "Nursing + X" multidisciplinary collaboration as the pathway and research projects as the vehicle to develop new models and technologies for addressing complex health issues;and third, upholding the essence of service by practicing the principle of putting life first, delivering scientific care, and bringing the benefits of technological innovation to the people. He concluded by calling for the contribution of ‘West China Wisdom’ and ‘Chinese Solutions’ to the realization of a Healthy China and the promotion of human well-being worldwide.

Professor Zhao Changsheng, Vice President of Sichuan University, emphasized in his address that as a national "Double First-Class" initiative university, Sichuan University has consistently prioritized the integrated deployment of education, technology, and talent as a core strategy to drive the high-quality development of healthcare education. Building on the characteristics of a comprehensive university, Sichuan University has integrated the nursing discipline into a broader framework of interdisciplinary convergence, notably within the "Medical +", "Information +", and "Engineering +" initiatives. Nursing, he noted, is not only a vital field for safeguarding health but also a key driver of synergistic innovation. He stressed that the nursing discipline of Sichuan University should take education as its foundation to cultivate inter-disciplinary talent, harness technology as its wings to foster innovation hubs, and rely on talent to build a collaborative ecosystem. By advancing nursing from "experience-based" to "precise and intelligent," the discipline can become a vital force in shaping new quality productive forces.

President Wu Xinjuan of the Chinese Nursing Association expressed her warm congratulations on the successful convening of the conference. In her address, she highlighted that the West China Nursing Team of Sichuan University has consistently adhered to the mission of serving national strategic needs and promoting the development of the healthcare sector, making active contributions to the advancement of nursing discipline through talent cultivation, knowledge creation and patient care. She encouraged nursing professionals to remain focused on cutting-edge fields, make full use of research platforms to conduct more high social-value research, drive the growth of new quality productive forces, and contribute wisdom and strength to building a global community of health for all.

 The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Li Ka, Dean of West China School of Nursing, Sichuan University.

The Technology and Innovation Summit Forum at the 6th West China International Nursing Conference brought together cross-border insights to empower nursing through technological innovation. By providing a platform for global exchange and collaborative development, it fosters new quality productive forces in healthcare, injecting strong momentum into public health protection and advancing the vision of a global community of health for all.
