On August 28th, the 2026 Teaching Innovation Competition for Nursing Teachers of our college was successfully held in the fifth meeting room of Houde Building. Li Ka,who isa member of the Party Committee of West ChinaSchool of Medicineand the dean of theWest ChinaSchool of Nursingof Sichuan University, and You Zhen, the minister of the Academic Affairs Office, were present at the competition site. A total of 14 nursing teachers from West China Hospital of Sichuan University, West China Hospital of Stomatology, West China Second University Hospital, West China Fourth University Hospital and the Affiliated Chengdu Second People’s Hospital participated in this competition. More than 50 key teachers from the teaching and research sections observed and exchanged on site.
President Li Ka, in herspeech, put forward three hopes for the nursing teaching work. First, we must adhere to the original aspiration of nurturingstudents, focus on the fundamental task of fostering virtue and nurturing talent, closely follow the development trend of the nursing discipline, and strive to cultivate high-quality, professional and innovative leading and outstanding nursing talents. Second, we will delve deeply into teaching innovation, closely follow the trend of digital education development, skillfully utilize AI technology to empower classroom reform, and actively explore new talent cultivation paths that deeply integrate ideological and political education into courses, cross-disciplinary integration, and human-machine coexistence. Third, we will adhere to mutual assistance and common progress. Taking the competition as an opportunity, we will exchange teaching experiences, collide teaching and research ideas, continuously refine teaching skills and improve teaching standards, and fully promote the iterative upgrading and new heights of the quality of nursing education and teaching at West ChinaSchool of Nursing, SichuanUniversity.
This competition has specially invited senior teaching supervision experts from the college and several outstanding backbone teachers who have won awards in the National College Teachers’Teaching Innovation Competition to serve as judges, including Professors Feng Xianqiong and Guo Hongxia from theWest ChinaSchool of Nursing;Yang Shengtao, deputy director of the Prosthodontic Technology Department of West China Hospital of Stomatology;Zhu Hong, director of the Comprehensive Nursing Department of the Nursing Department of West China Hospital;and Wen Ya, deputy head nurse of the Department of Cardiology, West China Hospital;Teacher Zhang Xiujuan, Deputy Head Nurse of the Neonatal Department of West China Second University Hospital. A comprehensive, professional and refined assessmenthasconducted on the on-site presentations of the participating teachers, covering multiple dimensions such as the scientific nature of teaching design, the completeness of teaching implementation, the innovativeness of teaching models, the integration of ideological and political education into the curriculum, and the prominence of educational achievements.
The competition site was filled with a lively and exciting atmosphere. All the participating teachers presented their lessons as the main form of presentation. Based on their own teaching practices and the characteristics of the nursing professional courses, they vividly showcased their research achievements and innovative ideas in aspects such as the reconstruction of the curriculum system, the innovation of teaching methods, the creation of classroom scenarios, and the infiltration of ideological and political elements. It fully demonstrated the solid teaching foundation, cutting-edge educational concepts and enterprising professional demeanor of the nursing teachers at West ChinaSchool of Nursing, SichuanUniversity in the new era.
After intense competition and rigorous review, the competition finally selected 3 first prizes, 5 second prizes and 6 third prizes. Among them, teachers Liu Shuang, Lin Jie and Tao Lin stood out with their novel teaching designs, solid teaching experience and vivid classroom presentations, winning the first prize of the competition.
Minister You Zhen highly affirmed the quality of the competition and the comprehensive qualities of the participating teachers.He encouraged all the participating teachers to delve deeply into teaching, apply what they have learned, and regularly integrate the innovative concepts, high-quality methods and advanced experiences from the competition into their daily teaching work, continuously refining their teaching abilities and consolidating the foundation of nurturing students.
The successful holding of this teaching innovation competition for nursing teachers, whichhas effectively consolidated the foundation of the construction of the nursing teaching staff in ourcollege,and created a favorable teaching atmosphere of delving into teaching and research, being courageous in innovation, and competing to learn from each other. In the next step, ourcollegewill continue to take various teaching competitions as the starting point, further deepen educational and teaching reforms, innovate talent cultivation models, constantly improve the level of nursing education, and strive to build a high-level nursing education highland with prominent advantages, distinct characteristics, and a future-oriented approach,contributing the strength of West China School of Nursing to the implementation of the Healthy China Strategy and the cultivation of outstanding nursing talents for the new era.
